WS500 Firmware v2.5.1 Now Available
The WS500 Firmware v2.5.1 addresses unintended alarm impacts when switching between engines in a twin-engine install and in non-lithium-base battery systems, as well as introduces new system features, including support for the Victron Energy SmartShunt, enabling remote sensing of battery current and the option to detect temperature via a SmartShunt device.
Additional features released with Firmware v2.5.1 include:
- Support for higher amperage current shunts (Ex. 2,000A/50mV shunts)
- Support for MG Energy Systems’ SmartLink MX
- CAN Manufacturer ID change to 1305, registered to Dragonfly Energy, as well as by NMEA for NMEA2000 use
Another notable change in Firmware v2.5.1 includes the function of Tach Mode when a Minimum Field Drive % has been defined. Prior to Firmware v2.5.1, in the instance of a WS500 sensing battery voltage over its limit, Minimum Field Drive would force to 0%, overriding any defined Minimum Field Drive %. Based on feedback from the field, the override has been removed, and user-defined Minimum Field Drive is respected at all times.

Version 1.8 of the Wakespeed Configuration and Monitoring Utility App Now Available
The latest Version 1.8 of the Wakespeed Configuration and Monitoring Utility App supports new features in the WS500 Firmware v2.5.1 for enabling remote sensing of battery current and the option to detect temperature via a Victron Energy SmartShunt device. Version 1.8’s additions and modifications also address correspondence inconsistencies with the alternator data table within the application.
Version 1.8 of the Wakespeed Configuration and Monitoring Utility App is available for free on Android and iPhone iOS platforms and can be downloaded in the App Store and Google Play Store.
